Happy Endings - we would love to hear how our rehomed dogs are doing in their new homes. If you have a photo, or just would let us know how you are both getting on please send an email to:happyendings@greenfieldsgreyhoundrescue.co.uk
The lovely Cassandra came back to see us and brought the men in her life, Harry (on the left) and Ben (on the right). She loves her new
home, is so happy and confident and has a wonderful life with her
adoring menfolk. What greyhound girlie could ask for more.
Dear Hayley
Attached is a photo of Henry with his new friends: Fen, the Norfolk terrier, Abbey the JRxCollie, and my grandchildren Luke and Maddie.
As you can see, they all get on famously, and Henry has never had so many walks as when the children were staying with me last week. They both wanted to walk him as he is so easy and patient - he paced himself according to whatever speed they were doing, whether it was dawdling or running! Everyone he meets admires him, both for his looks and his temperament, and I am so proud to own him.
He is by far the most well behaved dog I have ever had, and a terrific advertisement for retired racers as pets.
Regards,
Catherine Walker
Hi all
Thought I should let you all know about my life now Ive adopted my family.
I spend my time going for lovely walks and playing with my girls they know their jobs I only have to roll on my back and they know its tickle time. The people called mum and dad are quite fun too they try to share my bed of a night but I soon put them in their place although I ve got to say I much prefer it when they are cuddling me.
Mum says give kiss and I know that if I rub her nose that a tasty treat usually follows so now sometimes Im crafty and go and rub her nose anyway cause I know she cant say no to me then. Im a daddys boy really because I know he is usually doing something fun that I can get involved in (whether he wants me to or not!!)
I love my family and they love me (I ve trained them well)
Well I think its time I get off line now as I can hear the car on the drive and I dont want them to know that I have the measure of them just yet!
Bye Bye for now
Love
Tommy

Hi Hayley
I'm attaching a few photos of Rosie (aka Little Mouse!). She is an absolute delight and is incredibly smart.? She's been no trouble in terms of housetraining after the first few days when a couple of times she just went on the carpet!! She now asks to go out.? She loves her walks and?goes at the speed of light up and down the garden! We've taken her to the local woods which is full of lots of other dogs and she has no problems at all with any of them and happily says hello.
She already obeys some basic commands although we'll be going to dog training classes starting from next week which I'm sure she'll enjoy.? She has her own wee bed which she loves snuggling into but she is equally happy snuggling?up to me in my bed!? She is also no problem with William, my cat, as you can see from one of the photos they can even nap together on the same bed, and would hope that soon they'll even snuggle up together! William is not bothered as long as he still gets his food and a warm place to sleep! Rosie just wants to play with him although he thinks he's much more superior and disdainfully puts his nose in the air.
Although it's only been a week and a half it feels like she's really one of the family and gives us such a lovely welcome when we come home. She's absolutely fine being left on her own, but also enjoys trips in the car. It lulls her to sleep!?
Many, many thanks for placing her with us, she is absolutely gorgeous and the most loving affectionate dog I have ever known. Please also thank Keri and let her know that she is settling in here really well and is being fed a lovely mixture of dried food and meat and gets a soft egg with her supper!
I will let you know when I come down to the vets for her to be 'done' and hopefully you'll see a difference in her. Even over the past week, friends have said how much she has changed since I got her, each time she is more and more perkier.
Oh, and she doesn't like the rain though I've ordered her a lovely waterproof coat complete with snood and fleecy lining, can't wait to see her in it!
With best wishes
Annie and Rosie xx
Hi Gang
just to keep up as Uschi is now 1 year old, getting so much calmer( well they do when you take the Zebedee spring out of their Bum) she is really lovely and never going to be just a dozy dog.
The coat being modelled was a help from Caroline and I shall be returning? it once Uschi has decided how big she will get.
This dog has changed my life, and she now has a passport so we can go abroad, and more importantly come back if necessary.
Hi Hayley
Do you remember me? I'm "ALFIE" .Am still living in Rossendale with mum and dad, once or twice a year I go on holiday to my auntie and uncle who live in Ramsbottom they spoil me even more than my mum and dad.
I would like a brother or sister but we do not have the room so I am still an only boy.I think we are going to the park this afternoon, but I am still a little naughty because I bark a lot in the car even now.I meet friends when we are in the park ,after the walk we have a cup of tea in the cafe.
Have to go now its dinner time.
Love Alfie
Greenfields Greyhound Rescue has sometimes been known to rehome dogs which are not greyhounds but in February we rehomed a pot-bellied pig. Diana (the pig) was living in Cheshire and was bought to our notice by a friend. She is a very friendly little pig who is used to coming into the house and loves attention. We do have farm animals (including pigs) here at the sanctuary but felt we were unable to give Diana the home she needed. Two of our helpers Martin and Linda Pitt scoured the country looking for a suitable home before finding one right on their doorstep in Shrewsbury. Diana has gone to live with Marion and her family at her cat sanctuary. Unfortunately one
of Marion's pigs had died leaving his brother Basil on his own.
Diana is settling in well and is so friendly and sweet she has agreed to light reception duties in the sanctuary office in return for tea and cake.Karl and Katie Latham adopted Harold a few weeks ago - he is settling in well as you can see!

Emily has been with us now for six weeks.
When she arrived she was rather subdued and frightened of everything, especially sounds. She was house-trained in a day and a half even barking to be let outside on the fourth day. By the third week she had learned to play, now she often initiates the games. She is confident and friendly with all dogs and people and she has met lots of both in our Countryside Park. She still steals food if she can but now allows it to be taken from her,she is also much calmer when greeting visitors. She enjoys investigating the undergrowth and playing with the grasshoppers when on her walks but is dignified and stately walking to heel. She has filled the void left by the death of our previous dog and our house is a home again.
Regards . Ted Cook.

Hi Hayley,
just wanted to give you an update on Will's brother who we have named Charlie. Considering the bad start in life he had, he is a very normal little puppy and full of himself. He has no problems standing his ground over toys when Cole tries to steal them off him. Although he does not try this with Lukie and quickly worked out that she was boss. Cole and Charlie have become good friends and can always be found together sleeping, playing or tearing round the house. Lukie, being a Saluki, was her usual stand offish self, but Charlie is now allowed to sit by her as long as he doesnt jump all over her!

We received Cassie on Friday 11th may. She settled in really well, we had visitors round that day and they thought we had her for years because of how quick she settled in. Her name as you can see has been changed to Cassie and she has adapted to it straight away. She loves going for walks and enjoys a good run around our big garden especially with her squeaky bone toy. She loves lots of hugs and cuddles up to you on the sofa and we are really happy we have got her.

Dear Hayley
Hope you like the piccie, Uschi is now looking like a coool teenager( well you know what I mean, everyone says what a beauty and isn't her coat like velvet and she sits there getting embarrassed), does most things OK but has selective hearing when off the lead and still likes to meet everyone and dog with a flying leap( and Boy is she quick)
ciao Uschi and Bob

Sometimes Greenfields helps out those in need who are not true Greyhounds and Nelson is one of these. Nelson had his eye pecked out by a Magpie and was unwanted by his owner so Hayley horrifed to see such a green weeping wound, rushed him to our vets for an emergency operation where they cleaned out the eye socket and stitched it up.
He is making a good recovery, although quickly depleting the Leek area of bags of lambs milk. When Nelson is a little bigger he will join Caroline's flock of pet sheep but for the moment is being raised by the goats with Caroline's help

Dear HayleySorry we have been unable to meet at one of your events so far but we are still hoping. In the meantime I thought an update on Coco was due. She doing very well I think. She is clean now in the house now and attends dog training classes she has been promoted from "beginners" to "improvers" and now to "intermediate" all in the space of a few weeks. We took her to Formby last week with her friend Molly (Gill's dog and also a rescue dog) for a gallop over the sand dunes. they both loved it. I am sending a few photographs we took. As you can see the weather was perfect and we all enjoyed it. I do think Coco has settled down now and she seems happy and sends her love.

Hello, I thought you might want to know how Blue(Tiger) is getting on in his new home. He's settled in really well and is best friends with our old collie Meg. He's great on the lead and off. Loves other dogs and even spent the afternoon playing with my daughter's Jack Russell Sid which I was a little apprehensive about because of Sid's size but I needn't have worried. Although I'm at work three days a week he has been fine in the house no problems at all.I have attached a few photos. We are seriously considering adopting another greyhound. Many thanks to the RSPCA they have done a fantastic job with him.
Bye for now Sue

Hi Hayley and Joan,
As promised a few picks of 'H' having a romp in the snow with Ian and I. As you can see he's also laid claim to Ian's comfy rocker!! He's definitely going to be a couch potato and he's settling in great. The place is a bit too big for him at the moment, he's only happy in the orchard or by the kitchen but I'm it wont be long before he's romping round in all 4 fields!!
See you soon
Maria and Ian

Hi Hayley
Here is a recent photo of our Alfie, he is fattening up now and it is no wonder as he eats like a horse. He has settled in great and is our little lad now. We enjoy our walks in the fields and in the park, we have no worries about him running off he is so loving and faithful. Alfie gives us lots of pleasure and we would not be without him for anything, I think the feeling is mutual.
You can rest assured that Alfie is happy and content here with us and his little furry friends the three hamsters, and his two feathered friends Rebel and Joey.
Thank you for everything, hope to visit sometime in the future.
Best wishes Barry, Denise and Alfie
Hi Hayley,
We eventually decided to call the pup Cole. He has settled in well and grown a lot in the last 3 wks. Took him for his injections today and he has gained 2kgs in 3 weeks, think it has all gone on his legs!
Lukie wasn't so keen on him for the first few days, but has really surprised me since. She is really good with him, but he knows his place and what he can get away with. Molly on the other gets chewed to pieces and is only just starting to put him in his place. He has taken a few chunks of fur out of our male cat (Harley) bum, still pins him to the floor bites him if he thinks I am not looking. Harley is very tolerant and so far has not fought back. They are getting better together and some time sleep on the same bed (see photo). Belle our female cat has more sense and just stays well out of his way. He has spent a lot of time barking at the rabbits, they are not bothered one bit and Lukie tells him of if he gets to near, she is very protective of her bunnies!
He is eating and sleeping well through the night which is a relief. I was so tired the first week, he cried if he woke and there was no one there and wouldn't go back to sleep on his own. Spent the first week while hubby was away sleeping downstairs with him, then swapped me for Molly which has worked really well. He is doing well with housetraining, but he has chewed half the plants in the garden with Molly's help. He worked out quite quickly that sitting was a good idea especially if you want a nice treat. He makes me laugh as every time he see me with a cup or anything that might have something edible in it he's there sitting at my feet! He likes his food and can here his food dish from a mile away. I have taken lots of photos, so sent a few.
Hopefully see you at some greyhound events through the year. Sharon.
This email was received from the new owners of a little pup called Dee. Dee was rescued from lurcher men who were keeping her in poor conditions - looks like she's won the lottery!
Dear Hayley and Caroline
Just to say a quick thank you for all the help you've given.
Hope you like the writings( she does very well for one so young)
ciao for now Bob
Sat 3rd February 2007
Well, there I was this morning at Gobowen station when this black jeep rolls up, papers are exchanged and I’m off for a two hour drive back to Macclesfield (little bit of icky but I am only 14 weeks old). Caroline has lent me some coats (coz it’s bl**Dy freezing) and I look really cool hmm. I have now found my name is Uschi, which sounds a bit deutsch to me, but apparently is this bloke’s favourite Biathlon star.
Yes must mention this bloke is called Bob apparently, and looks a bit old but he can’t help it.
What he can do is provide a nice warm house, garden to play in and food (and Bickies too of course). also really lazy, has black leather settees (on which I can get lost) and watches too much TV and that’s after just one day. We've been out and looked at the stars, came straight back in coz the frost was up to my?????. -as Florence says Time for Bed.
Sunday 4th Feb
Hey this guy likes sleeping in well so do I, uh uh must remember sleep on carpets pee outdoors. I’ll get it right one day, I am only a baby.
So what’s today’s surprise? Well first it’s the same person here as yesterday, that’s new. Next I haven’t been kicked off the bed and am gradually working my way to the pillows. Better luck next time.Hmmm Breakfast, wot no bacon and eggs? Just dried stuff aw well
It’s white outside but I have just been told this is not snow, that comes later this week. The garden is just right for a few laps at high speed. Well as long as I use the nice lady next doors garden as well. All this new growth tastes nice but I’m not sure why I’m eating it, perhaps I’m a vegetarian (oops this man just swore and said god forbid and it’s Sunday)
.Well United are on this afternoon so I’ll have to arrange a good few pee breaks between 4 and 6. Can’t go out with the rest of the world yet, but it looks great thru the big window, dogs and cats and squirrels and birds and everything,
Think I might like it here, shame he’s a united supporter.
Boring said Zebedee time for bed said Florence

There seems to be a common denominator in most of these happy endings photos - and this one is no exception! It couldn't be a setee could it? This is Tara who came to Greenfields with her sister Betsy. They were brought to Greenfields from Ireland. Tho photo was sent in by her new owner, Jo-an
Hi Hayley
Just a couple of photos to show how well Finn has settled into his new home. He is very playful, amusingly taking my husband's shoes in the garden and leaving them there in the rain. When he's not sleeping on his own, he sleeps with our other (brindle) greyhound Ryan and our collie Jessie. He made himself at home within an hour and you'd think we'd had him since birth, he's so calm and friendly. Happy Christmas to you and all the doggies!
Jo Carroll
Hi Hayley, Thought you might like a photo of Dingo now he is settled in!
As you can see he has grown a lot since we had him and every day he makes us laugh.
Happy Christmas
Vanessa and Phil
Hi Hayley, This is our new addition, extremely handsome isn't he? As you can see he's made himself at home! We're all very happy especially the children...a new best friend. Thanks for your time & help, please pass on our thanks to Caroline & Judy too.
Tracey Wynn
Hi CarolineCarrie has well and truly made our home her home, she had week in Wales recently with us enjoying the sea and beach!
She enjoys her daily walks getting used both other dogs, pheasants and bunnies! (on the lead of course)
We would not be without her, she is a real joy
Best Regards

Hi toJune, Sam and all at Stilesmeadow and Greenfields Rescue I have emailed you a picture of Shadow and Bandit.in two poses. I thought you would like to put them on the Living happily ever after page. I look on the website every day and it amazes me at the dogs that are rehomed. Shadow came to us from Caroline at Greenfields rescue centre. He was named Ralfie but we changed it to Shadow because he is always behind me. Bandit came to us from Stiles and he was longing for a new home after being with you for such a while and, as you can see, he is blissfully happy. Bandits name was Hansome and we changed his name, as he doesn't say boo to a goose. We have been on several caravan holidays and they are fantastic, don't run off or cause any problems. We have always had greyhounds and these two are a breath of fresh air as you can see by the pictures. We wouldn't be without them. To anyone who wants a greyhound as a pet or even a lurcher, I can recommend them. They are easy to settle down and with a lot of TLC they become lifelong friends.
Thanks to June and Sam, and also thanks to Caroline too. Also dawn my daughter still has fly a tan/ white greyhound who is now thirteen years of age. He came from Stiles 11 years ago and sadly has a tumour in his toe, but he is being treated and has recovered well from one operation and is going to have his toe off soon. Hopefully he will be with us for a little longer god willing. David also has a fawn greyhound called Spear, but he came to us from another rescue centre. They all get on well together and are great friends.
Regards Lesley, George, Dawn and David Cooke.
"Just a short email to let you know how Millie (Coco as was!) is getting on. She's been with us now for 4 weeks, and is settling in well. She's started to put weight on and her coat is improving, and is now getting shinier.
We've just come back from our holidays in Scotland, where she slept in the back of the car, with our labrador, Chad without any problems.
She had plenty of long walks and has had chance to have a short run.
I've attached a couple of photos which were taken a couple of weeks a go.
I'll keep in touch regarding her progress!"
Regards,
Carol (& Millie)

Dear All, Just an email to let you know how Dee is coming along. She has been with us for only 2 weeks, but we couldn't imagine being without her now. As you know, when she first came to us she was very skinny and weak, but she is putting on weight nicely and her energy levels are improving daily. It is lovely to see her character developing, she is becoming playful and very cheeky with it. She enjoys her walks now she has more energy.. We recently went to the seaside which Dee was very excited about, she loved having a run up and down the beach and splashing about in the sea. She seems to have settled in well and we think she is happy to be here and we are very happy to have her as part of our family. Please find attached a picture, and we will send more as she progresses.

We received some photos today of this little boy, Troy, who was six weeks old when he was taken away from his mum and destined for a life of working the hedgerows killing rabbits. Luckily I got a phone call from the lurcher-man's wife, she was pregnant so it was clear out time for the pups. This little man has found himself a lovely home with lots of brothers and sisters, chickens and lambs to be friends with and curls up every evening with the big ginger tom cat.
Thanks Lilly for giving this little boy his new home.
Regards Hayley

Dear Caroline, Just a quick email to send you a couple of photos and to let you know how he is settling in. We have renamed him Oliver and he doesn't seem to mind! He has settled in really well and has been 100% clean in the house from day 1. He is very affectionate and loves to be with us and gives us both a big welcome whenever we come in or come down in the morning.
He is eating well and we are giving him an evening primrose tablet and a spoonful of cod liver oil each day in his food. We gave him a bath the other day which he quite enjoyed especially when we wrapped him up in big fluffy towels afterwards to dry him. His coat is getting better and is looking quite sleek and healthy although his bald patches need to grow over which they will given time. He is still finishing his antibiotics so we have not yet been to our vet to give him his jabs.
He really seems quite at home now and is really a big softie and we are really glad that we have got him. Photos are attached - the first one showing him in his favourite position on his big soft cushion in the lounge.
Best wishes and many thanks,
Bob & Zena Dixon

Daisy and Jack with their new master
Hi Caroline, I am very happy now and love my new master that much that when I can't find him anywhere I search every room until I have. I am being very well behaved both on and off the lead and in the house too. Every afternoon I am taken out into the countryside and love to have a run with my new friend Jack, afterwards I can't wait to cool off in the river Dane. I was taken on holiday in June and thought that the beach was terrific, the sea wasn't very nice to drink though. Jack and I were so well behaved that we are being taken again in September and this time we are going to stay in a lovely hotel which is on a salmon river and very close to our favourite beach. Thank you for rescuing me and finding me such a good home and I hope that you like the photos of me and my new master,
Love Daisy
