Greenfields Annual Fair

We were blessed with a lovely summer day for out annual show.
Everybody had a great time with lots of classes to enter and lovely stalls selling lots of goodies for the sighthounds.

Best in show was Mattie a gorgeous 14 year old lurcher accompanied by his owner Mrs Sue Herapath. Mattie is shown below on the left

Sunday 26 August 2007

At Ellesmere Cremore Gardens, Greenfields hosted their first dog show in partnership with Shropshire County Council Countryside Services.  promoting responsible ownership and  awareness of rescue greyhounds.

Everybody had a great day. Lots of lovely lurchers and greyhounds turned up not to mention all the local dogs both crossbreed and pedigree who took part in the other classes. We had some good stalls too. Greyhound Gap turned up with all their lovely handmade collars and accessories. It really was a good day out for all sighthound lovers. The photo shows Mr Dylan Thomas who won Best in Show and on the right Lynne Dean from Shropshire Counryside Scheme who did so much to help Hayley organise the show.

Thomas was originally on our rehoming page but was found to have developed a tumour.

Update:

Thomas continues to do well and now runs around the fields at a vast pace. He loves sunbathing and has made good use of the current good weather by getting up at six in the morning to get his favourite spot in the sun. He has convinced us that if a dog only has three legs then he needs a vast supply of sausage rolls and tins of tuna, we are not quite sure why but we are going along with it

The photo shows Thomas saying a big thank you to the veterinary team who removed his leg at Churnet Valley Vets in Cheddleton.  Greefields would not be able to do the work we do without the help of Pat, Dawn, Sue and Katie..
