Rosie Bones 1995-November 2008

Sadly , last week we had to have Rosie Bones our Whippet X put to sleep,we guess she was about 13 years old

She came to live with us many years ago, from Sam and June and she loved to pinch any food that was in reach of her, which due to her size meant that nothing could be left out as she could reach anywhere. No matter what she ate and even after she was spayed she stayed thin, hence her nickname of Rosie Bones.

This year she seemed thinner than usual so after blood tests and a scan. It was confirmed she had a lump on her liver,
she stayed well still enjoying her food , but a lump came up in her neck, which had spread from the tumour in her liver.

Her appetite started to go ,and when she eventually turned her nose up at her favourite food (chicken) we knew the time had come , so she was put to sleep before she suffered.

Thanks for Rosie Bones from the Smith family

Georgia - 13.12.1991 to 3.6.2008

We found Georgia at Stilesmeadow with her 8 brothers and sisters when they were only 8 weeks old. Georgia chose us, by being an eager little licky pup, and and she knew what she was doing because she was a perfect fit into our home!

If we'd been expecting long walks, we'd have been disappointed because Georgia was just about the laziest pup in the world. She was far too busy sniffing everything in sight to be bothered with hurrying anywhere!
And any attempt to get her running round the park was met with disdain.
She loved playing in the park, but on her terms!

One of the funniest things she did as a young puppy was steal a pie that was waiting to be cooked on the kitchen counter, before she was realistically big enough to reach! I don't know how she did it to this day! But the funny part was that having stolen it, she just took it and hid under the sofa, not sure what to do next! I don't recall what we had for tea that night but it wasn't pie!

Georgia was lucky to be a very healthy dog until about 3 years ago, when she appeared to have had a stroke. We thought we would lose her then, but happily it turned out not to be a stroke, and a course of steroids improved her condition a lot. But she was never the same after that. She couldn't walk far at all so her world shrank to our house and garden plus short walks up the street that would leave her exhausted. But she remained the most placid and licky dog in the universe right to the end.

On Tuesday 3rd June 2008, at 16 1/2 years old, the ravages of old age finally became too great, and Georgia was given a peaceful and dignified end, in the arms of her loving family.

Rest in Peace Georgia. We love and miss you.

Sally RIP 2008

Sally was rehomed to my Dad ,from Sam and June 4 years ago, sadly my Dad passed away in 2006 so I looked after Sally with my other 2 dogs also from Stiles Meadow , she was very happy and her only problem was Arthiritis in her legs, which she had painkillers for,
I also gave her Glucosimine and she also had a magnetic collar to help her,
We are not sure exactly how old Sally was but from Sams account she was between 17 and 19 years so she had a good life ,
yours Janet Smith and family, Congleton.

Bobby Dog 1994-2008

I guess he should have been called spot! but he wouldn't stop bobbing up and down. He was our first dog and we had just brought our first house. He arrived before most of the furniture! Being a spaniel x collie he was never lacking in doggy power and spent the first two years of his life dancing around on his back paws. He could jump any where and if he couldn't find mischief it found him. He never grew up just slowed down and we had him for thirteen years. He was a characterful rogue and we loved him. The hole left in our lives is massive. Sleep tight Bob!

Jess    RIP 2nd November 2007

In October 2005 we were lucky enough to welcome into our lives the most precious, chubby, balding, bow legged Staffie you would ever be likely to meet. Our first meeting is still described in the notice board section (Why Adopt A Staffordshire Bull Terrier?) and her picture is still in the centre of the photos on the home page with my daughter in the white fluffy coat.

On Friday November 2nd Jess went to sleep in the arms of the people who loved her so much and before age and aches took away her wag. Although devestating nothing can dim the wonderful times we have had over the last two years with our 'Jessibear' and the joy our little 'grunter' bought into the lives of all who got to know her.

I have no doubt that she is somewhere safe rolling onto her back to have her belly tickled then trying to get back up by rocking and kicking her legs like mad.

Thank you to Stiles Meadow for lettting us have two of the best years.

Jake "Beauty"    1992 to 25th September 2007

We were lucky enough to in late 1996 to visit Stiles and see "Beauty" who we re-named Jake.  He had been badly treated and neglected by his previous owners.  We did not go up to Stiles  to find another greyhound, but visited to show Sam and June how well our re-homed other greyhound "Rufus" was doing, but saw a dog that needed some TLC.

Jake had been at Stiles for approx six months, we had to help him! We collected Jake every Friday and returned him every Sunday afternoon to Sam and June at Stiles, which we loved and hated doing.

In May 1997 we moved to a bigger house to accommodate Jake and our two other greyhounds. Over a period of time Jake found himself and had his own personality.  He was a lovely dog who had a big presence and was always there.  He had such a lovely personality, so gentle and very loyal.

Jake was a loving faithful greyhound who loved us and asked for very little in return.  He loved long walks, his biscuits, sleeping on his basket and our bed but hated wearing his coat on cold rainy days!!!.

Jake our "Big Boy" we miss you terribly.  We love you.

Julie and Pete Moran

PS Sam and June thank you for allowing us to foster Jake for the first few months it was a privilege to have Jake as our dog. We will be coming up to see you soon.

Guinness 1989-2006

We would like to thank Sam and June for the privilege of allowing us to re home Guinness for the last 12 years. He has been a wonderful companion and loved by all who knew him. He has played a significant part of our family life which has been enjoyed by all of us. He has spent many happy holidays with us from Wales to Scotland as far South as Brighton and many more places in England. Latterly he spent his holidays at Stiles Meadow always settling happily. Sadly Guinness passed away on 4th October, peacefully at home. He will be sadly missed.

July 2006 the owners of Dotty had to say their final goodbyes to her.  They took her on as an old dog and gave her a wonderful home for her last few years.

We have only the greatest respect and admiration for dog lovers who take old dogs into their homes.  They have to suffer the distress of losing their companions all too soon, but what they give the dog is truly wonderful.

Meg, who was at Stiles for quite some time, also passed away recently.  We all hoped that one day someone would come along and give her a home....Well they did...Meg had the last few years of her life with a loving family...we all give you a big  " Thank You " for taking an old dog into your home.
