Stilesmeadow is open to the public on Tuesday and Thursdays 2-5pm and Saturdays 11am-5pm (closed 1-2pm for lunch).  All visits outside of these hours are only by prior arrangement.

How to find us:

Directions
From Bosley crossroads traffic lights at the junction of the A54 (Congleton to Buxton) and A523 (Macclesfield to Leek) take the A523 towards Leek.  At 1.3 miles turn left into Smithy Lane (Froggatts garage on corner).  The drive to Stilesmeadow Dog Sanctuary is off to the right about a mile up Smithy Lane.

Unfortunately, as with all aspects of life, we have to have certain rules and conditions - these are in place to protect both the dog and the families and all adopters are asked to sign to say they agree to abide by these:

The dog must not be left alone for a full working day (6-8 hours).  Generally rescue dogs need more companionship than most dogs as they are often insecure through losing previous homes

The adopter must have a fenced garden or yard for the dog to play in safely

A minimum donation of £45 is required to help cover the cost of neutering and microchipping

The adopter must agree to a home check by a member of the Stilesmeadow staff

If the rehoming does not work out the dog must be returned to Stilesmeadow Dog Sanctuary

Many dogs find themselves in rescue kennels due to bad treatment from children - please teach your children to respect the dog - the dog has his limits too!

IF YOU CHANGE YOUR MIND AFTER RESERVING A DOG, PLEASE LET US KNOW AS SOON AS POSSIBLE AS THE DOG COULD LOSE THE CHANCE OF ANOTHER HOME

Stilesmeadow Dog Sanctuary policy on rehoming to homes with children:

Unless there are exceptional circumstances we do not rehome to families with children under the age of 5.

Whilst we appreciate the advantages of bringing children up with responsible dog ownership, many of the dogs in Stiles find themselves there because of problems and cruelty from adults allowing young children to be cruel to them and then abandoning the unwanted and unruly pet.

Also we do not know the past history of most of the dogs in Stiles and so we could never vouch that the dog would be safe to rehome with young children. This could result in disastrous consequences.
